IAF has published Issue 9 of IAF ML 4: Policies and Procedures for an MLA on the Level of Single Accreditation Bodies and on the Level of Regional Accreditation Groups. This update introduces key changes aimed at streamlining processes, improving clarity, and eliminating redundant forms. It also seeks to increase harmonization between IAF and ILAC processes.
Main changes include:
• A conflict of interest clause was added (1.3) to ensure transparency and integrity during the decision-making process.
• The description of technical experts (TEs) previously included under clause 2.2.2 has been removed, with information on TEs to be included in IAF/ILAC A1 IAF/ILAC Multi-Lateral Mutual Recognition Arrangements (Arrangements): Requirements and Procedures for Evaluation of a Regional Group.
• The information on monitoring team performance previously included under clause 2.2.3 has been removed, since the process is carried out in accordance with IAF/ILAC A1.
• Clauses 2.2.7 to 2.2.12 relating to the Regional Accreditation Group (RAG) evaluation procedure have been added, with the main objective of aligning IAF’s decision-making process more closely with ILAC processes. These clauses focus on improving communication, ensuring the timely dissemination of reports, and providing sufficient time for review before decisions are made.
• The process for accepting new accreditation bodies and RAGs into the MLA under clause 3 has been clarified, including necessary criteria, the application process, and conditions for signing the MLA certificate.
• The suspension and withdrawal process has been expanded with the addition of more detailed consequences and steps to notify stakeholders and other signatories, such as conditions under which accreditation bodies and RAGs lose their signatory status (clauses 4.2 to 4.8).
• References have been updated and redundant annexes have been removed.
Through these changes, IAF aims to maintain a robust and efficient MLA that remains responsive to the evolving needs of stakeholders worldwide.
