Changes in the Scope of the IAF MLA During 2024
In 2024, the IAF MLA continued its expansion with the successful endorsement of several new private sector schemes as sub-scopes under the Arrangement. The following schemes completed the endorsement process and were formally accepted into the MLA:
- IFS Logistics Certification Scheme V3
- FSSC 24000 Certification Scheme
- IFS PACsecure Version 3
- IFS Broker Version 3.2
- BRCGS Ethical Trade and Responsible Sourcing Issue 2.1
- GLOBALG.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) Version 6
- Friend of the Sea Certification Scheme (World Sustainability Organisation – WSO)
Several other schemes remained under evaluation in 2024, with the intention of achieving approval in 2025:
- Interprivacy Certification Scheme (European Centre for Certification and Privacy – ECCP)
- IFS Wholesale and Cash & Carry Version 3 Standard
Applications for new schemes received during 2024:
- IAF received two new scheme owner applications during 2024, which are currently under review.
New versions of existing schemes received in 2024:
- BRCGS Global Standard – Packaging Material Issue 7
As part of ongoing efforts to enhance transparency and accessibility, the MLAC has launched a new dedicated webpage for IAF-endorsed schemes. This resource, developed by the CMC Chair in collaboration with the IAF Secretariat, provides up-to-date information on endorsed schemes and can be accessed at: https://iaf.nu/en/endorsed-schemes/.
Regarding public sector schemes:
- ISO 37001: Anti-bribery management systems — Requirements with guidance for use and ISO 37301: Compliance management systems — Requirements with guidance for use. Both were approved for inclusion in the IAF MLA following a ballot by IAF members in December 2024.
- OIML Certification System. Remains under discussion and has not been accepted as of this report.
Transitions
Throughout 2024, the IAF continued overseeing and managing multiple transitions to updated standards to ensure consistency, reliability, and alignment across regions. These transitions are implemented according to IAF resolutions and are overseen by the IAF MLA Management Committee (MLA MC) and the Joint Management Committee (JMC).
