Annex 1 – Scope of the MLA

The scope of the IAF MLA as of the end of 2024 is structured across five hierarchical levels:

  • Level 1: Specifies the normative standard for Accreditation Bodies (ABs), currently ISO/IEC 17011:2017.
  • Levels 2 and 3 (Main Scope): Defines the accreditation programs (e.g., product, management systems, personnel, validation and verification) and the associated normative documents endorsed.
  • Levels 4 and 5 (Sub-Scope): Includes applicable sector-specific documents (Level 4) and associated certification or scheme requirements (Level 5).

Note: Items marked with (xxxx) indicate documents currently under transition, with the year of the revised version shown in parentheses.
