2023 marks the 20th anniversary of the ISO 9001 Auditing Practices Group (APG), which aims to provide informational support to quality management system (QMS) auditors, consultants, and quality practitioners. The group comprises ISO/TC 176 audit experts from around the world, as well as nominated experts from IAF and ISO/CASCO, who work on a volunteer basis.
Since its first meeting on 23 February 2003, the ISO 9001 APG has published more than 50 papers providing insight into nearly all aspects of QMS auditing. These documents have been well-received by the professional community, and the success of the APG led to the formation of the Accreditation Auditing Practices Group (AAPG) in 2005.
Today the ISO 9001 APG team, which consists of both founding members and newer participants, is looking confidently to the future. They are gathering information on new global needs and challenges, developing papers that focus on the use of digital technologies and exploring other modern approaches to the audit process. At the same time, they are updating existing papers to ensure their continued relevance.
To mark this milestone, the group will share insights from authors of its papers, including on the present and future challenges of auditing. For more information, visit the ISO 9001 APG website.
