The International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) held a workshop on Global to Urban Scale Carbon Measurements on 30 June and 1 July in Sèvres, France, recognizing the essentiality of measurement methodologies and data for the formation of government policy. It was organized around three main topics: Carbon measurement and other related climate variables “Global systems, principles and traceability; Megacities and metrology needs for supporting greenhouse gas mitigation” Urban greenhouse gas domes; and Standards for greenhouse gas emission inventories.
Chikako Makino from the Japan Accreditation Board (JAB) gave a presentation on behalf of ILAC and IAF on the topic of “GHG Measurement and Verification: Current Practice and future Governance” during the session on Standards for Greenhouse Gas Emission Inventories. Her presentation is available from: http://www.bipm.org/en/conference-centre/bipm-workshops/carbon-measurements/presentations.html
