IAF has joined the Artificial Intelligence Quality Infrastructure (AIQI) Consortium as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting the development of safe, secure and trustworthy AI technologies. This membership enables IAF to work alongside global quality infrastructure organizations to address the emerging risks and complex demands posed by the rapid growth of AI.
The AIQI Consortium embodies a shared understanding of the need for a collaborative quality infrastructure approach that leverages consensus-based standards and accredited conformity assessment to support the responsible development and deployment of AI. As AI continues to transform industries, coordinated global action is needed to guide its development in ways that serve the public interest.
Introduction to the AIQI Consortium
The AIQI Consortium is a global initiative dedicated to addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by AI. Formed by the TIC Council and the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), the AIQI Consortium builds on the Walbrook Accord, first introduced by the Lord Mayor of London at the TIC Council AI Summit in 2024.
Bringing together organizations from each area of the quality infrastructure, the Consortium fosters international cooperation to ensure AI development aligns with societal values, regulatory requirements, and quality infrastructure principles.
Why the AIQI Consortium Matters
As AI continues to transform industries, ensuring its responsible deployment is critical. The AIQI Consortium aims to:
• Promote Safe and Ethical AI – Helping to ensure the effective evaluation of AI technologies through a rigorous quality infrastructure.
• Support Global Policymaking – Engaging with regulators working on AI legislation to promote balanced governance approaches.
• Guide AI Assurance Frameworks – Providing frameworks for certification, training, and assessment programs to help them meet future regulatory and market needs.
IAF’s membership in the AIQI Consortium provides a platform for direct engagement in the development of AI-related policies and regulatory frameworks. It also facilitates collaboration with international quality infrastructure leaders, reinforcing IAF’s role in shaping global approaches to conformity assessment. Through its participation, IAF will contribute to the development of certification, training and assurance programs that are central to the future of AI governance. This work plays an important role in supporting AI systems that balance innovation with safety and contribute to broader public trust.
