IAF MLA 2024 – Highlights and New Signatories

19 Jul 2024

In 2024, IAF Members have made significant strides in their recognition under the IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MLA). The IAF MLA aims to ensure mutual recognition of accredited certifications and validation/verification statements between signatories. This allows for the acceptance of the certifications and validation/verification statements in many markets, saving costs and benefiting businesses and consumers worldwide.

Members achieved the first recognitions for ISO/IEC 17029:2019 Conformity assessment – General principles and requirements for validation and verification bodies, as part of the transition process from the main scope of ISO 14065:2013 to the main scope of ISO/IEC 17029 in accordance with IAF Resolutions 2021-22 and 2023-27. 2024 also saw the first recognitions for a number of sub-scopes, including:

  • – BRC Global Standard – Food Safety
  • – BRC Global Standard – Agents and Brokers
  • – BRC Global Standard – Packaging Materials
  • – BRC Global Standard – Storage and Distribution
  • – BRC Global Standard – Consumer Products – Personal Care and Household
  • – BRC Global Standard – Gluten Free Certification Program
  • – BRC Global Standard – Consumer Products – General Merchandise
  • – GLOBALG.A.P. Produce Handling Assurance (PHA).
  • – IAQG Industry Controlled Other Party (ICOP)

IAF welcomed the Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC), Global Accreditation Bureau (GAB) and Systéme Ouest Africain D’Accréditation (SOAC) as new IAF MLA signatories. Many additional IAF members have received scope extensions.

‘I am immensely proud of the accomplishments that IAF Members have achieved this year,’ said IAF Chair Emanuele Riva. ‘Their diligence is reflected both within their organizations and in their contributions to IAF activities, as we work together to promote accreditation worldwide.’
